Banksy Does New York (2014)

Following the 2010 film Exit Through the Gift Shop, another Banksy-themed documentary, Banksy Does New York (2014), has been released in Sydney cinemas. Directed by Chris Moukarbel, Banksy Does New York looks at Banksy’s month-long residency in New York City, where he exhibited one new artwork a day in an undisclosed location, prompting a huge scavenger hunt for his art. In comparison to Exit Through the Gift Shop, which was made by and included Banksy, Banksy Does New York focuses less on the artist himself and more on the media and fan frenzy created both online and on the streets. The film premiered on HBO in November last year. Australian viewers can now see the film, with movie sessions at the Dendy, Newtown for the following week.
