¿Dónde está el cine?

The Spanish Film Festival greets the shores of Sydney once again, and this year avid cinephiles and Hispanophiles will be treated at closing night with Luis Buñuel’s surreal 1970 work Tristana, which is to be “preceded by sangria on arrival.” Buñuel, a master of Spanish cinema, is undoubtedly best known for his rather existential masterpiece El ángel exterminador (The Exterminating Angel).  Buñuel captures the animality and savagery of the human condition perfectly, and his dark romance is perfect to end the festival with. Tapas and sangria all around.
