Greek Pulp

Greek pulp

After a fabulous lunch at Pericles Greek Restaurant (out in Earlwood/Hurlstone Park), my mum was eager to explore the music store next door, one Metropolis Music Centre, for some Nana Mouskouri records. We managed to find several CDs, all in Greek (she also has a wide collection of French songs), along with a gamut of other Greek memorabilia. There was no English to be found, indicative of the store’s authenticity, despite one reviewer being less than favourable. I myself was delighted to stumble upon a grand collection of crude, kitsch, yellowing Greek pulp paperbacks, complete with delectably sordid covers boasting archetype detectives and femme fatals. With a $2 coin in my pocket I bought four books, at 50c each, despite having no comprehension of the Greek language whatsoever. I am yet to find anything online that identifies the publisher or titles…
